On-site clinic
Selva Negra hosts a clinic
on the grounds, near the worker's lodging. The clinic is staffed
with a full-time registered nurse, and all emergency cases are
taken to the hospital in Matagalpa. The clinic is in charge of
all well-child visits as well as regular checkups and vaccinations
for all. Another important role of the clinic is sexual education
and disbursement of contraceptives.
Selva Negra receives significant
assistance from many friends in the United States in stocking
the clinic. Without this assistance it might be impossible for
us to be able to supply the medical attention necessary for such
a large group of workers.
