Training and Continuous EducationWith the many specialties at Selva Negra, there is a need for many experts in specific fields. Since at Selva Negra we learn most of what we do through trial and error, there are many opportunities for employees who are interested to venture into new arenas of expertise. Employees both go to training seminars as well as host and give training seminars themselves. Local Co-ops have come to Selva Negra to learn of methods that we employ in our maintenance, harvesting, and processing of the coffee that may improve their productivity, quality and/or sustainability of the coffee which they product. |

One example, we are continuously experimenting with new natural methods to develop pesticides and herbicides. Interested employees have taken the initiative to get involved and assist us in finding new and interesting ways of developing herbicides with local vegetation. They take trips with us to local farms where we've heard of new plants being used and they inquire of all local farms of methods they may employ. Various employees, in this same efforts have gone to seminars and training sessions to learn about the local vegetation, so that we may better learn how to employ them successfully | ||||||
| At Selva Negra, we have many experts in the many arenas which we are involved in, and many of these experts have been promoted from within the farm instead of hiring outside personnel. An incomparable advantages is the knowledge of the land and a respect for maintaining it sustainably. |
