Selva Negra Restaurant

Selva Negra offers restaurant services at the lodge which is within easy reach to all the bungalows and chalets.

It is located on one of the resort's small lakes and offers a large deck with a wonderful view of both the mountain and the lake. At the restaurant, you may choose from a variety of both local and international foods, including authentic German cuisine. For sample meals click here.

Buffet service is available all Sundays and Holidays. The buffets boasts a wonderful salad selection from fresh resort-grown vegetables.

On the buffets you will also find wonderful soups, rice, potatoes, and a variety of meats.

Full bar services are also available. You may sit and enjoy a stein full of beer while sitting in the marvelous hand carved wooden bar.

History of the Restaurant Design

When they decided to build the lodge Eddy and Mausi Kühl, the proprietors of Selva Negra, hired an architectural company to design a restaurant building.

The architectural company returned with a design for a many-story concrete building that would not only be too expensive, but the concrete structure design was not conducive to the surrounding environment.

Eddy and Mausi envisioned a building that would fit in with the surrounding landscape. They were inspired by a German train station that they discovered in a model train set. They decided to design the building themselves and set out drawing, sketching and modeling. The current structure that is the restaurant and the hub of the Selva Negra Mountain Resort is the culmination of that inspiring day with a model train set.
