Meet Maria Auxiliadora Rodriguez
Maria Auxiliadora joined Selva Negra in 1988 as a front desk representative. She began planning special events in 1997 when she started coordinating our Oktoberfest festivities. Maria Auxiliadora became our lead wedding planner in 1999 when Selva Negra hosted the inaugural wedding in our chapel. Since then Maria Auxiliadora has helped more than 120 brides and grooms plan their celebration of vows with their weddings details, for ceremonies with as few as 10 guests and as many as 600.

Yes. Selva Negra has been the location of hundreds of weddings.
What is the minimum and maximum size of a wedding?
We have performed weddings for ceremonies with as few as two people - the couple themselves. We can accommodate as many as 400 celebrants.
Where do your weddings take place?
You can choose from several venues. Most couples prefer the Chapel and many wed in the courtyard of the Salon Blanco. Some have selected the intimate gazebo next to the mountain lake. Couples can also choose to hold the ceremony in one of the many churches in the area and return to our lodge for the reception.

What services does your wedding planner provide? Is there a fee?
Our wedding planners will guide the couple through arrangements for the flowers and decorations, photographer, videographer, wedding cake, music, entertainment, ceremony and dinner reception. Their fees are included in our package rates.
How do I begin to plan my wedding at Selva Negra Ecolodge?

May I marry at the Selva Negra Ecolodge utilizing another wedding planner?
To ensure the quality of your wedding at our resort, we ask that you employ our own wedding planners. Our Wedding Planner will devote herself to ensuring that all your special requests will be handled affectionately and promptly.
Do you require a down payment? How much? When is the balance due?
We ask that you provide us with a non-refundable deposit of US $500 to hold a date for your wedding. The deposit is applied in full as a credit to the final cost for your wedding. Final pre-payment for our services is due one month before the happy day.
What is your cancellation policy?
Couples may cancel up to one month prior to the planned wedding date. Our cancellation fee is 50% of the total amount to defray the costs of planning and arrangements already completed.
How do I reserve my marriage suite at Selva Negra?
Select your special wedding bungalow during the planning process. Speak to our Wedding Planner to discuss your options.
Is there a special room rate for wedding couples? And a group rate if a block of rooms is reserved for the wedding party?
We offer a Honeymoon Package which includes lodging and a variety of additional amenities. Group discounts are available for parties of ten people or more. Make sure our reservations desk knows the names of your guests so that we can apply the discounted rate at the time of booking.
Do you have a wedding or honeymoon suite?
We offer a selection of suites for wedding nights and honeymoons. Many couples select Bungalow #11 or #12 because of their seclusion, the beauty of their settings, and their deluxe, romantic decor. Special wedding-night wine and appetizer packages are available upon request.
Does Selva Negra have an officiant to perform the marriage?
The St. Nicholas Chapel at Selva Negra is a multi-denominational chapel for people of all faiths and those who profess none. Our Wedding Planners will be delighted to help you find an officiant of your choice.
Is live music available?
Count on us to find you a live band or DJ.
Can we supply our own music on CD?
Of course. Please provide us with your favorite CDs in advance so that we can test them in anticipation of the blessed day.
What can you arrange for a wedding cake?
Selva Negra's bakers are the best in Nicaragua! Your wish is their command! They can prepare double-layer, single-tier, two-tier, and triple-tier wedding cakes, in an amazing variety of flavours and icings. Our price includes decorating the cakes with fresh flowers or fondant.
What types of flowers are available locally? Is there a florist onsite?
We have a floral specialist on site and many of the flowers are availabe from the estate. All flowers are seasonal and weather dependent. The price depends on the type and the accessibility. While we do our utmost to get the flowers that meet your wishes, we ask for you to provide us with a second choice of dependable flower types. Bridal bouquet and matching groom's boutonničre are available. Some flower types include chrysanthemums, white cala lilies, roses, carnations, and asters.
Can I bring my own food and beverage?
We ask that you order all your food and beverages from our kitchens. Let us see to all of the details.
What are the various wedding photo opportunities on the resort grounds?
They are endless. Choose any angle from our landscaped gardens, stone chapel and mountainside. May we suggest taking a photo in our gazebo with the lake draped in the background?
Can I bring my own vendors?
We ask that you allow us to plan, cater and decorate the blessed event. For other wedding services, we can provide you with a list preferred suppliers in the area. Of course, feel free to bring your own favorite photographer or live band.
