Coffee Museum | Take a trip through coffee history

Learn about the coffee history of Matagalpa and Nicaragua

Hiking in the rainforest

Take a trip back to the 19th Century when coffee was grown, harvested and processed with equipment as clever as it was simple. Selva Negra's coffee museum showcases the people and events that played key roles in developing the industry in the region.

Our museum also delves into the origins and life ways of the Matagalpa Indians, the first people to settle the Matagalpa highlands. Several of the artefacts were discovered and donated by Eddy Kuhl, one of our founders, during his lifelong research into the history of the region.

Don't limit your curiosity to the museum. You'll find historical murals around the restaurant as and the walls of our ecological wet mill in the coffee estate.
