2006 Farm Christmas

Good times at the farm. Christmas is a wonderful and amazing time whether you have a white Christmas or a palm tree in the front yard, and it is no different in the mountains of Nicaragua where over 400 children gather at the doors of the kitchen at Selva Negra. Here, Mausi poses as Santa Claus and she watches the children walk in and have their choice of the many toys laid out in tables all around them. They're surrounded with so many dreams and their faces show all this wonder and joy. Every child receives presents, even the infants get a little something to take home and call all their own. After every child has gotten their pick from the kitchen converted to toy store, the piņatas come out. Five piņatas are taken out and children are separated in groups by age, so that everyone gets an even chance at hitting the piņata, but most importantly of reaching the goodies, which include candy, small toys and money.
Not only does this Christmas Party take a lot of time and dedication in putting together, it also requires quite a bit of funding. We would not be able to make so many dreams come true if it weren't for the dedication of the Rogers Family. They have supported the farm Christmas for many years, and we would like to thank them for their dedication not just for our coffee but also to the children of Selva Negra. Thank you
